Hurray for date night!

Last night my mom was lovely and took the kids overnight, and John and I got to do the whole date night deal – driving practise (for me), movie, dinner (a gift card from John’s dad that we got at least a year ago and had never used), and then!  The Beatles Rock Band. Lots of fun.

We thought maybe we’d go out dancing – a friend of ours occasionally DJs – but we thought of it too late, and didn’t get hold of him. So we splurged on a video game.

I must say, it was exactly what we needed. Waking up late together, without fighting, or accidents, or requests for breakfast, seemed like untold luxury. But we were talking about it at dinner – I am not starved and slavering for space the way I was when the kids were very small. As they get older, it gets easier.

I do not know who I’d be if I were a farmwife with neverending babies. Other than celibate.

I had a breakthrough on my first two paragraphs. Something was missing, and my fixes weren’t working, and I’ve been poking at it. But the move to actually re-writing, well, that whet my interest to start transferring back in.

But my pen and paper edit is at Chapter Fourteen. Six more to go before I can go back into the computer.

Patience, patience.

  1. I had fun too. And it was so thoughtful of Tate to worry that I’d be lonely without Grandpa and he figured I needed company. He was right and it was great for me.
Thank you for lending me your sons.

  2. Hurrah for date night! And easy mornings, come to think of it.
