  • Either this is fairly unknown, or I forgot about it. Free DJ control using cheap timecode records and real turntables. #
  • Arwen (quoting from SomeECards): “I miss feeling superior to the president.” Tate (Leaving the room) : “Buwok Obama’s WINning…” #
  • Can’t wait for the new K-Os album. Also hoping Future Sound of London drops something new this year (we can always hope). #

  • Off to have sushi with Gramma Yaya and Tate. Woot! #
  • Nobody say anything about BSG until we put the kids to bed and can watch it ourselves. Happily, I preemptively set the DVR to record it @ 7 #

  • Does someone know where I can find a TV auto-gain? I’m getting tired of reaching for the remote every break due to 150% volume increase. #
  • “Hylozoic Soil” by Philip Beesley sculpture in the winners list at We Make Money Not Art. Nice to see them post again. #

  • Peter Murphy – Cuts You Up is EPIC schmaltz. We just don’t get it quite like that any more. Thanks RadioParadise.com #
  • I consider myself pretty keyboard savvy but when websites don’t have a proper tab-to-click setup, it makes things difficult. Dumb mouse. #

  • Yeah, so Tuesday is the new Monday. No interview with Radical (already filled the position). Haven’t heard back from *anybody* else. #
  • Pretty pathetic when the only good thing you can see in the day so far is that you can apply for Employment Insurance online instead of IRL. #
  • What do you do about it if you’re anti-logging, but a photo of you ends up promoting “second-growth?” forestry? #

  • I think I might have broken my own domain today via FTP thinking I’m attacking it, when I’m actually just trying to upload helpdesk. Ironic? #
  • Digging Tweetdeck Gives a nice three/four column dashboard for everything that’s happening in the tweetosphere. Free. #
  • Wow. Forgot how grating the 1987 album by Big Black was. Accidentally bought that album because I read review NEXT TO a Prince piece. #
  • I think the tweetosphere’s going to think I only listen to Prince. I don’t. I haven’t in a long time. Honest! Not since about ’93, much. #
  • Watching “The Big Bang Theory,” and can’t believe nobody told me about this show. It’s like XKCD on crack, in sitcom form. #
  • Have I mentioned lately how awesome http://www.fusednetwork.com is as a hosting solution? I asked for a php extension enabled. 20 mins, done. #

  • Listening to the new Franz Ferdinand, and the big hit single Ulysses has the vocal moved forward by about a 16th beat. Was that intentional? #

Edit/Update:  So, this was really bugging me, because the album version vocal seemed so “slushy” compared to the single I downloaded a month or so ago.  I wasn’t entirely sure about the veracity of the album version I had, so Ripley and I wandered down to the HMV at Robson & Burrard yesterday and listened to the track on a listening post.  Same thing.  Sounded like their singer was off a bit, y’know?

So I threw both tracks into Sony’s Acid 7.0 and did a quick slide edit to put the music tracks together as closely as I could bother, and aside from a little flam on the percussion that isn’t there normally, I think I got them pretty tight.  Here’s an MP3 of BOTH tracks, and you’ll notice a distinct echo/doubling of the vocal that gets more and more pronounced as the track progresses.  Frankly, I kinda dig it, ’cause it gives the track this weird dizzy feel to it.

Franz Ferdinand – Ulysses (Both Versions)
