Why Is It

Called a television set? There’s only one of it. It’s a unit, not a set.

    Originally I think it came as a set with the rabbit ears and all that junk. (Think “crystal radio set” or a wireless apparatus.)

    It’s from the Latin through Indo-European, apparently, so I don’t knw why it can’t by apparati.
