Wordemup wordemup wordemup. Once again, your three intrepid spaniels hosts got together and talked for four hours, and occasionally played music so there was continuous noise while we drank coffee and ate hummus (om nom nom nom). I think the swearing started somewhere around the 40 second mark (which may be a new record for Jonny Vancouver), so best to put some headphones on, or send the kids out of the room for the next 90 minutes or so. Our focus for this show? Covers. The good, the bad, and the Yelling Bill Cosby.

Background music was “Corporate Love Breakdown” taken from their album “The Bluegrass Tribute To Radiohead.”
If it helps at all, the language on that cover of “Wrapped Around Your Finger” is Portuguese: “Enrolado Em Seus Dedos”. There’s a couple of live versions covered by different bands on YouTube, if you feel like checking them out.
Even though this means I have to admit I’m stupidly behind in listening to the show (SORRY!) I’m so painfully music- nerdy I couldn’t let this one go. The Love Potion cover is from a re-release of the entire Tijuana Brass Whipped & Other Delights – called Re-whipped. All of the cuts are from the originals but Herb re-did all of the trumpet solos and got some amazing people to remix and add to the tunes. Love Potion is remixed by Anthomy Marinelli and features the amazing Ozomatli.
I highly recommend checking out the entire cd – the other remixers are Dust Brothers, DJ Froosh, Medeski Martin & Wood (!!!!!), Thievery Corporation etc.
This is one of those cds I anticipated for months and bought the day it came out.
