Podcasts in general are explained by the good folks at Apple via clicking here.
Here’s the main question we get though:
How do I automatically download your show so I can listen to it in iTunes or on my iPod?
It’s easy to subscribe to any podcast using iTunes, even ones that aren’t available in the iTunes Store.
To subscribe, find and copy the podcast’s feed URL (in the case of Unknown Origins, the feed URL is http://www.geckotemple.com/podcast/feed/podcast/ ).
In the “Advanced” menu in iTunes, select “Subscribe to Podcast” and paste the feed URL into the dialog box.
So I’m having some trouble with this. iTunes is telling me that the feed URL above “might point to text-only episodes, or contain file types that iTunes cannot play.” Any suggestions?
Whooops. I’ll look into it. That’s the second person today who mentioned this. I *think* there’s something not quite right in the podcast plugin I’m using, and it’s confusing iTunes (and other feed rippers).
You can still right-click and download the shows, but that’s not NEARLY as much fun.
Okay, looks like somehow the plugin is having a self-reflecting moment, and wants us all to use
http://www.geckotemple.com/podcast/feed/podcast/
as the Podcast Feed Url.
I just tried it again in iTunes, and it works. Thanks to Mintarr and Cat for pointing it out, and I’ll change the link above for the fix.
