So… I installed this plugin that claims it’ll display related posts. What I don’t know is how it’s determining that things are related? If I say gecko wombat toe music pants glitter, is it going to relate that to anything I’ve said before?
If so, yikes.

So now I’m at Hamburger Mary’s on Davie, and just getting ready for today’s run-around after a morning of sorta zoning out and staring at stuff. Can’t wait to see what Ripley looks like in his kilt. I’ll have to make sure I get lotsa pictures tonight and tomorrow, ’cause I know people have been complaining that I’m not posting enough pictures of him.

Okay, I think I have reached some sorta millestone. I am blogging from a bank line. Actually, now I am on the bus waiting to get going. Expect a few of these “guess where I am” posts for a little while until the shine wears off a bit (probably right around the same time I go through my first Executive Emergency).
Still kinda pretty screen though:

Check it out!

Maybe, maybe not, but ever since I upgraded my WordPress engine at home to verison 1.5, I’ve noticed that a LOT of plugins don’t work properly. Of course, if I knew just a little more (or were willing to put in a little time), I’d figure out how to fix the plugins myself (I’m assuming it’s usually a pathing issue, since the paths have changed for some of the folders in WP).
So, yeah, I’m gonna check the Sync To LJ box below, and we’ll see what happens, shall we?

Paul Graham has this neat thing for a talk to a bunch of high school kids.
I’m not saying I’ve read the whole thing, but this is a pretty good start:
I’ll start by telling you something you don’t have to know in high school: what you want to do with your life. People are always asking you this, so you think you’re supposed to have an answer. But adults ask this mainly as a conversation starter. They want to know what sort of person you are, and this question is just to get you talking. They ask it the way you might poke a hermit crab in a tide pool, to see what it does.
Check out the whole thing here.

There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking. This understanding extends to everything.

Michael Franti’s film “I know I’m Not Alone” is going to close Slamdance this year.
Sweet.
I Know I’m Not Alone (Michael Franti: USA) will close the festival as a work-in-progress. Filmed entirely on location in Israel, Iraq and Palestine during the summer and fall of 2004, the film is a personal diary of a musician’s journey, looking for humanity in the warzones of the region.
Festival Director Kathleen McInnis said, “We feel the documentary film to be the last stand of truly independent filmmaking — not yet co-opted by studios or the mini-majors but instead fresh voices from filmmakers almost always nearly shy of resources but rich in story. We couldn’t be more excited to bookend our festival with two such strong films. They will encapsulate an extraordinary line up
