Just thought I’d outline my maniacal way of finding things. I’ve had a few people ask, so here’s my general method of getting (even remotely) useful information out of this big web o’ ours.
1. Google (Don’t forget to hit that Group tab, too)
2. Google Toolbar <- Now with Popup Killer
3. FileMirrors if you have a filename, but no place to download from.
4. GetRight for downloading from flaky (or multiple) servers.
5. Copernic for freakishly overloaded searching.
6. Newzbin to see what’s “out there” in the NewsGroups.
7. E-Mule for everything else.
